Mike Allison I am an experienced contemporary fine artist. I completed a degree in Fine Art at Winchester School of Art and later studied at De Montfort University to complete an MA. I have worked in various media but more recently the medium of print has proved a very successful vehicle for presenting my curious associations and metaphoric alliances. I am a member of the Birmingham Printmakers. |

Jim Anderson Jim Anderson is a multi-media artist based in London, where he divides his time between printmaking, painting, mosaic-making, teaching, and writing. His work encompasses many different media and ideas; but use of unusual, or recycled materials is paramount, and his work is steeped in the surreal and the satirical. He exhibits internationally, and his prints have won four prizes in national exhibitions - most recently in 2007’s Small Print Big Impression show in Leicester. In 1997 he was a co-founder of The Illustrated Ape Magazine; and in 2000 his book Handmade Prints - co-authored with Anne Desmet - was published by A & C Black. www.jimpanzee.co.uk | jimpanzee@yahoo.co.uk | 07753 256 257 |

Jane Ashdown I am working as artist/printmaker in residence at Truro School in Cornwall and am a member of the Porthmeor Print Workshop in St Ives. I make etchings/landscapes based on drawings done in situ, and developed in the studio, where I experiment with marks and colours to find what is important to me about a chosen image. jashdown@f2s.com | 01736 799 483 |
Joanna Bourne Jo principally works on wood, based on drawings and observations made around the area of Newcastle in which she lives. Her prints describe the local landscape encompassing the allotments, fields and park, with resident cows, walkers and birds. Jo responds in particular to the atmospheric incarnations of ‘northern’ weather – wind, snow and rain, and the changing times of the year. |

Ann Bridges Working from sketch book studies and direct observation I create vibrantly coloured images using a stencil based printmaking technique. Layers of inks are applied directly to the picture surface using small hand held rollers, allowing each layer to dry before adding the next. By wiping off areas that are not quite dry and removing the ink, hidden colours are revealed and the richness of the image is gradually built up. Childhood memories of pond dipping, looking at aquariums, sorting through the button box and reading children’s stories (Princess and the Pea) all feature as subject matter. www.ann-bridges.com | abridges@gotadsl.co.uk | 01824 703991 |

Sue Brown Collagraph involves making a collage, sealing the surface with varnish, and then printing the plate with an etching press. The technique provides intaglio prints with deeply textural surfaces. The vulnerability of my raw materials when inking results in a very limited edition of between 10-30 pieces and each print has unique accidental qualities.

Richard Foster Richard grew up within a stones throw of Hadrian's Wall and Lanercost Priory and these two ancient monuments instilled in him a passion for the past. He also developed a love of the countryside around him and in particular for the trees that are so much a part of the north Cumbrian landscape. Richard trained as an Art Historian at Manchester University and now lives by Morecambe Bay but works amongst the Lake District fells. www.richardfosteretchings.co.uk | info@richardfosteretchings.co.uk | 01229 869 503 |

Ruth Green Ruth’s paintings are mostly oil on paper or canvas. She uses a technique where the paint is rolled out onto a smooth surface then transferred to the painting, similar to monoprint. Each layer is dried then built up to create translucent colours which reveal other tones beneath. Compositions come from all manner of sources, from pebbles found on a beach, to 1970s wallpaper. You never know when something will appear and volunteer itself as an idea! www.ruthgreendesign.com | ruthgreendesign@hotmail.com | 0121 444 7098 |
Angela Harding Born in 1960 in Stoke-on-Trent I studies Fine Art printmaking and painting at Leicester Polytechnic and then an MA in Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University. The recurring inspiration for my work is the flora and fauna of the British countryside. My studio, looks out over the Rutland landscape; the view is of sheep fields and English farmland which are often represented in my work, along with the theme of British birds. www.angelaharding.co.uk | harding11@btinternet.com | 01572 737 784 |

Raymond Higgs Born Carlisle 1940. I studied at Carlisle College of Art 1956 - 61 Painting N.D.D. From there I gained entry to the R.A. Schools graduating Dip R.A.S, 1961- 64. Awarded an Abbey Minor Scholarship in Painting 1966. Trained and practiced as a painter, I have since 1981 concentrated on relief printmaking as the medium where I could best explore my interest in chromatic colour, in multiples. Particularly I find interesting the restrictions of the reduction method of making prints. I have moved on from making large lino prints using the reduction method, to engraving small endgrain wood blocks and find enormous interest in the necessary forward planning of area and colour - quantity balanced colour. www.raymondhiggs.co.uk | raymondhiggs@p-o-row.demon.co.uk | 01697 320 063 |

Glenn Ibbitson My print medium of choice is the monotype, favoured for its graphic spontaneity and a range of mark-making which cannot be readily accessed through any other medium. I usually produce two prints from the same plate. The first pull produces a high contrast result. Shadow areas on the plate are then re-inked, resulting in a second state with a wider, subtler range of grey tones. smokingbrush@btinternet.com | 01559 370 276 Carole King My current work is inspired by maps of my local West Wales landscape in combination with aspects of its industrial archaeology. Chine collé techniques are used to combine text and printed matter with collagraphs to produce multi layered prints. Some prints are cut, shaped and collaged together to reflect the patterns of field boundaries or traditional Welsh patchwork. Stitch further enriches the surface, weaving additional meaning into the artworks. www.carolekingart.co.uk | mail@carolekingart.co.uk | 01559 370 276 |
Jennie Ing Jennie studied fine art specialising in printmaking at Croydon College and Wimbledon School of Art where she gained a Masters Degree. Five years ago she set up her own studio space and prints her linocuts on a Victorian press. Although brought up in Scotland she has lived near London for the past 30 years and this has been an influence on much of work. She is a member of Greenwich Printmakers, Richmond Printmakers and the Skylark Galleries in London. www.jennieingart.co.uk | jennieing@yahoo.co.uk | 020 8941 2069 |

Catherine Kleeli Based at Hot Bed Press Print Studio in Salford, I work as both Painter and Printmaker. I continue to explore themes of family life, relying on family photographs and cine film as a launch pad. I strive to maintain an artistic open mindedness, a versatility of approach and a constant creative enquiry to express in visual language, matters of family significance. In my printmaking and painting I adopt a multi-layered approach to help signify layers of personal history, each layer making a contribution to whom we ultimately become. In recent years I have worked predominantly using the ‘Gum Arabic Transfer’ print process, in combination with chine collé and monoprinting. Most recently, I am using the ‘Solar Plate’ Print making process to bring fresh possibilities to my practice. |

Julia Manning I am a passionate full time PRINTMAKER I love ‘the craft ‘ and ‘the fine art’combined! I am equally happy drawing in the wild or ‘whittling’ my plates in the studio. My work is all about the natural world, it has been described as ‘Nature with Attitude (which I rather like) Inspiration comes from my garden and the birds in it, my early morning walks with my dog Pearl, in the 5 mile radius of my home in Keinton Mandeville, Somerset and my trips to wild places. www.juliamanning.co.uk | juliamanning@uwclub.net | 01458 223 025 |

Pete Marsh Pete began painting and printmaking again in September 2009 following the discovery that an old friend and artist, Garry, had died. Feeling compelled to produce his own work again for the first time in nearly twenty years, Pete is exhibiting and selling once again. He feels his work is perceptual rather than conceptual, emotional rather than intellectual and he prefers expression over realism, subtlety over sensationalism, substance over novelty and intuition over reason. Pete’s work is held in private collections in the U. K., Canada and Australia. |
Colette Payne Originally Colette worked with the NHS, in nursing and midwifery. In her late 20’s she studied for a Fine Art Degree at Sheffield and Hallam University, specialising in printmaking. Tessa Pearson Tessa Pearson is passionate about colour. She studied textile design at UCCA and the Royal college of Art, and for many years produced hand-painted fabrics, selling them at her London studio/ gallery and around the world. In recent years Tessa has rediscovered her first love of printmaking, revelling in its expressive mark-making qualities and element of unpredictability. Inspired by memories of colour and imagery seen on her travels in Africa and Europe, Tessa works in series, exploring and revisiting a theme many times. Her bold abstract prints are mostly monotypes, often combined with collagraphs and elements of etchings with chin-colle. www.tessapearson.com | tessa@pmuk.com | 07736 211 105 |

Anja Percival I am fascinated by the different atmospheres that light creates in both our rural and urban environments. My compositions aim to combine different moods of light, with contrasting space and surface qualities. I rarely start with line, but instead focus on the highlights within an image, and so create the composition by concentrating on the areas that will remain light, instead of building up the image with dark tones. After my relocation back to Durham from Denmark at the end of 2009, I’m now incorporating locations closer to home, and my most recent work draws on impressions from Durham Cathedral. www.anjapercival.co.uk | percivalanja@hotmail.com | 07889 362 365 |

Ben Quail My work is of a colourful and humorous nature. I include narrative and story telling in my prints. I use sketchbooks as a visual diary and develop my images from this and my interest in ecology and wildlife. I have specialised in print making but also run a community based arts programme called rural mural community arts. I am currently developing new work about the natural world based around the coastline and other regions in Britain. This work also includes an underlying narrative about humanity. www.norwichprintfair.co.uk/benquail | benquail@aol.com | 01502 562 439 |

Hugh Ribbans At Canterbury College of Art relief printmaking was my craft subject, particularly linocutting. In 1989 I bought a restored Columbian press, circa 1830 and returned to the craft after many years, producing woodcuts and linocuts, mixing heavily grained wood - often driftwood - and lino in my prints. Subject matter can be images of animals and birds or people and places seen when traveling. Always with an obsession with line and a stylised graphic treatment much influenced by ethnic art and a reverence to Edward Bawden. Exhibitions include the Barbican Gallery London, the National Theatre, the National Print Exhibition, the Printmakers Council, the Society of Wood Engravers, Printfest in Cumbria, the Society of Wildlife Artists, the Affordable ArtFair in London and ‘Originals 09’. www.hughribbans.com | ribbans@ribbans.demon.co.uk | 01795 590 050 |

I find my inspiration in the beautiful English countryside. I love wild places, imposing land masses, stormy seas and winter snow scenes. I work mainly with collagraphs but also enjoy screen-printing. I work from a studio space in my home, with a splendid view over the rolling landscape. I also have a Victorian Hughes & Kimber printing press which gives me great joy and great prints. My Great Great Grandfather was Edward Kimber who founded the company that made my press. They were world renowned manufacturers of etching presses. Printing is my passion and I hope you will share it with me. www.jayseabrook.co.uk | jj@sparkle.vispa.com | 01572 717 322 |

Theresa Taylor Born in east Lancashire in 1957, after studying art locally trained in Fine Art in Lancaster and then Art Therapy in St Albans and Psychotherapy in Manchester. She has worked in this field within the NHS for 30 years, in parallel to her career as an artist . Over past 11 years she has focused on printmaking, now mostly using collagraph, as this affords the spontaneity she prefers. Her work is inspired by natural forms using them to convey mood and using the imagery as a metaphor. Colour is also important in her work to capture atmosphere. www.artinthecity.co.uk | taylor.stokes@btinternet.com | 01524 791 352 |

Liz Toole In my recent work, I have been creating imaginary scenes filled with the patterns of nature inspired by both the Sussex countryside and the diversity of life I found whilst traveling in Africa. I am interested in looking at details of trees and plants, Indian textiles and bird encyclopedias, and merging these sources to create, wall-paper like patterns that celebrate the English decorative tradition. My new range of prints has been hand-made in small editions in Brighton, using the techniques of lino-cutting and screen-printing. The use of coloured French and Indian hand-made papers has also become increasingly important to me. www.liztoole.com | liz-toole@excite.com | 07702 614 256 |
Isobel Walker I graduated in Fine Art (Printmaking) from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2003, and now work from my studio in Yorkshire Artspace, an award-winning complex of artists’ studios, in Sheffield. I have been intrigued by the circle for some time, with its paradox of complex associated ideas, expressed in such a simple form. Related to this, I am also interested in the tension between boundary and boundlessness, where the sphere of the earth meets the sky. The horizon seems to represent the concept of indefinite existence and events of the past, present and future; for me, it symbolises time. I try to express all this through my circles and lines. I work mostly with etching, monotype and embossing. Each piece is a unique, original work. www.isobelwalker.co.uk | info@isobelwalker.co.uk | 0114 268 5399 |

Ian Williams I am a painter and printmaker, based in the Vale of Clwyd, North Wales. My work is generally based on day-to-day experiences, and set in the modern rural landscape, but abstracted so as to render any narrative and meaning obscure. I like to weave thoughts and internal imagery into the work, because these are part of ones reality, even whilst standing on top of a mountain. I might use an element or certain configuration as a starting point for a print. I make etchings or use a combination of drypoint, carborundum and sand to make delicate, textured collagraph plates in aluminium or card which I print using the intaglio method. www.ian-williams.co.uk | ian@ian-williams.co.uk | 07900 497 794 |

Marie Wright The past has always been present in my work and recently I have returned to explore more fully the memories of childhood; memories initiated by the small snippets of papers found in drawers and cupboards and ephemera of my past. The work shown has been inspired by these tokens from my past; paper dress patterns, fabric remnants and buttons, not to be discarded. The work is produced using screenprinting and engraving techniques onto fabric or ephemera such as remnants from paper patterns to build up layers reminiscent of memory. |
